Test where required by the boiler mfr. and the mfr of the PRV. Have a spare on hand with the threads prepped with PTFE/ dope. Hydronic boilers are required to have shutoffs on the supply and return. If not present, explain their absence is preventing techs from testing the PRV, which is a safety issue. With the system and TX tank isolated, you should be able to make a switch under low pressure and have a bucket to catch most of the spillage. Read ME's post. As one who provides product liability support I can assure you the opposition will nail you if you failed to test/ replace as needed and that is found to be the proximate cause of a loss. If they refuse, document and consider shutting the boiler down. If scared to do this, send a certified letter return receipt to the Fire Marshal and owner. You must document the defect, the hazard and the consequences for failure to correct.0
