Equalizer transition point

Hi all!

My equalizer and boiler-return pipe will be 2” and my wet return is 1 1/2” where is the proper place to make the transition?

    I would say on the riser after the header turns down ( full header size through the last turn ). There may be other options but that one is safe.

    I misread this is correct , equalizer to wet return.

    Thanks, 2" below the bottom of gauge glass would be after the 2" short nipple, so either at the Tee in yellow or midway between the Tee and the elbow above.

    Use a reducing 90 or a bull head Tee (1.5 X 1.5 X 2). There should be a close nipple there, as shown, to prevent water hammer.
