CO poisoning in Perth Amboy, NJ apartment.

One dead, 41 injured including 7 responding police officers. Building was equipped with multiple carbon monoxide alarms but none of them went off. Were they bad or were they disconnected because they kept going off? Just saying. How could they all be bad? I guessing it was from the buildings boiler system. One of those that is designed to run even when it isn't venting.

With the bitter cold here lately, seems like there's a big apartment fire every couple of days in the city and surrounds.

It was 6F the other day and in one building with no heat people were heating their apartments with their gas stoves. One woman complained because "it was hard getting any sleep because the CO alarms kept going off during the night"!

In this particular building the super said the boilers were over 100 yrs old.

After hotels, nursing homes and schools, apartments or multi-family buildings are the most dangerous.
They are use in-house maintenance personnel most of the time and usually have multiple drafthood equipment.
UL CO alarms don't do much good if people don't know what they are for and seem not to be trustworthy anyway.

There are 3 low level CO monitors on the market. Ours, which is the NSI3000 but that is only sold to NCI CO Certified Contractors. CO Experts has one but they are in Probate Court right now and on hold because the owner died without a will. The third is the Defender LL6070 which is sold on-line to anyone which makes them hard to resell.
