I have asbestos I believe on my pipes I was wondering if the r value is better than all this new stuff on the market at home depot forget the heath concerns its on there pretty thick and can duct tape where its falling I have a friend who has a licence but don't mean much I was concerned about r value

    R value of asbestos is as good as anything you can buy today. I have had good success encapsulating the stuff with the plaster impregnated gauze tape which surgeons use of casts. You can get it at some hobby shops and places like that.
