Only two years old, they can't make copper anymore I guess........ and my old reclaimer crapped the bed

    Just piped a 20 ton Trane split. Trane is doing the start-up. Tested my piping with the piping isolated from the condensing unit..ok.

    Couldn't get the vacuum below 1300 microns. Retested piping and condensing unit with the valves shut. Piping ok, leak is a factory leak. I here there having problems with the microchannel coils.

    the coils are cheap and thin

    Looks like your almost down to the roof curb!!!!

    That gas valve/union is among other clusters that is typical when the install crew never have to return to service anything. If they had to change that gas valve and that was the only union, they would never pipe that way in the future.......how about a drip leg or is it not required because of the vertical riser pipe?

    Fine, then...... as my wife might say. :(

    Is it a drip or dirt trap?
    In 35+ years of redoing gas piping, (not my main trade BTW) I have only dumped water out of one NG trap. It was in an old dairy barn that had most of the piping in a cold attic.
    Another job with badly piped copper/galv LP drip had copper & iron flakes/scale in it.

    Natural gas now is pretty dry. From what I understand this was not always the case but drips outdoors are a no no. Guess if you had to change the electric gas valve break out the saw and add another union...or shut the building down.

    The conduit rising out of the 4" switch box, where is that piped to?? The moon??

    The conduit is piped up about three feet to a service light.

    I was always under the assumption that natural gas drips were to collect residual oil in the gas piping, the oil coming from lube that was added to the gas to lube the pumps in the piping stream, which isn't the case anymore.

    Chinese crap copper, get used to it, but that doesnt help the customer problem, probably mad that in 2 yrs it has a leak, please God bring back good ole American copper
