Oil tank gauge

Recently had boiler serviced, and as part of it they suspected line blockage from tanks. Each tank was checked and worked on. Interesting observation was after they left I noticed the gauge glass showed 3/4 full, whereas before it was just 1/2 full. What do you make of this?

Gauge was sticking. They probably thought it was a blockage if the two tanks were piped together at the bottom and the gauges read differently. So they unscrewed the glass (plastic) gauge cover and the 1/2 full one probably popped up to the proper level.
Or there was actually a blockage. I guess you didn't ask them.

There's only 1 gauge, and you're right, I didn't. Stupid is as stupid gets.

It could be that one tank was full & the system was only drawing from the tank with the gauge in it. Once they worked on it and cleared the blockage the tanks would equalize if twinned together properly. That would explain why it went from 1/2 to 3/4.
