Help! New House with Winkler model 550

I just moved into a new house with a Winkler Model 550. It still has the wood burner out back but has a natural gas economite conversion at the front. I have no idea how to use this thing. The local furnace companies all recommend the same company as "Boiler guys". They told me no problem on the phone when I mentioned the Winkler, but the guy who comes says he has never seen anything like it. He did say he doesn't think the thermocuple is working properly. Please tell me someone knows how to run this and might even have a manuel for this model or a similar model. I would be happy to buy it.

Is there any more information -- a builder's plate or anything -- on the furnace? There is a company in Winkler, Manitoba, which makes wood burning furnaces; HeatMaster, but I don't find a model 550 in their line. There is also a Winkler Plumbing and Heating company in Perryville, Missouri, which handles a brand of wood burning furnace....

This is probably a Winkler made by U.S. Machine Co of Lebanon, IN. Later this company was absorbed into Stewart-Warner.

Winkler was famous for its low-pressure oil burners. I actually have a couple of these.

Sarabeth1962, how about taking some pictures and posting them here?

Probably what @Steamhead said. While I was racking my old brain I thought of another old oil burner that I haven't thought of in years. "Harvey Whipple" oil burner believe it or not. I think they were made in Western, MA. Another old one was the "Waltham Dynajet" which had two blast tubes

It can't be too new of a house. Like Frank said, probably low pressure, but they did have a high pressure burner before the end. Kind of like a Lennox burner. Ed, I have a Harvey Whipple /Master Craft in my basement of relics, noisy as hell those thing were, and have a Vertiflame Watham down there too

Never seen an oil boiler, did see a couple of forced air Winklers ooodles of years ago. Lebanon is just down the road about 20 miles.

Sounds like this one is due for the scrap man.
