Thinking of installing a Trio?

Tried something new with a Trio boiler install. They seem to be pushing these at the supply house and everyone raves about them. After hooking everything up and filling the boiler, the bushing behind the gauge started to leak and the gauge showed no pressure. Someone had completely stripped the threads on the gauge and bushing, then they tried to put a whole lot of pipe dope on it to hide the issue. On the phone with the manufacturer and salesman and of course nobody believed me. Then they said the part is going to have to ship from Pennsylvania. Almost a week later I get the part and am able to finish my install and collect from my unhappy customer, who will now be calling constantly about this boiler due to lack of trust Im sure. Not that I can blame them. So I talk with the salesman and they tell me I'll be "taken care of" just return the old part and keep track of my time to install the new one. It took 20 minutes to install....the point is why am I waiting on money and new parts for a brand new boiler? Three weeks go by with no word and I call, they say to send a labor bill and they will send me up to $250. Well they can keep it. I have been told countless times that this is "a one in a million thing" and "you just had really bad luck" and I'm not telling people what to install by any means, I'm just sharing my experience with this company(companies). The customer service was horrible. Where is the liability if I didn't catch this and the customer calls me months down the road? It's on me...because somebody tried to sneak one by at the factory and hope nobody notices.

    Dave, is that a fiber washer where the threads meet the bushing? I Don't blame you for your frustration. I had this happen in the return of a G115. There's a bushing with a washer on the return that did the same thing as what you are showing. Took over a week to get the "special order" part.

    I take it you bought it through FW Webb... They didn't have any help for you?
    Almost would have been easier to drill and re-tap.

    That should have been overnighted....

    ISTR Webb sources these boilers from Boyertown Furnace. If so, they're the same as the Solaia boilers that BF sells directly. Both use the basic Biasi block. Dave Thomas, who runs BF, would never have let this happen- he's one of the best in the business. So I'm guessing the delay was within Webb.

    Often times those fittings are installed at the factory with pneumatic impact tools. it could have been an honest mistake, not a cover up. One bad fitting install should not be enough to condemn an entire product line or company?

    I agree that the replacement should have been expedited, we don't know the communication on that. Nobody wins when the ball is dropped, or fumbled :)

    If you can get $250.00 for your headaches, that is a generous allowance.

    Not sure what the bushing gasket was but pretty sure not fiber. It looked like a high temp silicone with mesh in it..weird looking. The new one was rubber. The problem was not caused by pneumatic tools because it was caused when the gauge was put on...not the bushing. Can't imagine them installing a tridicator with any type of air tool, and the 5 pounds of pipe dope was a tell tale sign that there was a problem and they knew it. As far as who I dealt with Im not comfortable throwing people under the bus on a forum like this...I will say the people I deal with at my regular Webb are great and no complaints there. And yes one bad mistake is not something to condemn a product over, it was the customer service that soured me. Again...this was just my experience and thought it was worth sharing
