basement air

My present home has ac on the first floor, walkout basement has no hvac ductwork as it was installed in attic by previous owner, works great. Basement is a little musty but I leave open a window and run a fan 24-7. I think I should tap into the return line and run it to the basement as well as maybe one supply line?, naturally it would pull that cool air from the basement as well, thoughts.

The biggest problem is going to be humidity control -- that nice musty basement air probably has pretty high humidity. If you do run a return down there, you should also run a supply as well -- otherwise it will just try and suck in outside air, which is even higher humidity, and that you do not want.

Do you have an open stairwell to the first floor? Sometimes supplying a little air down to the basement will push the warmer air up the stairs.
