Not Art Deco. These look like a cross between a Nason and a Whittier. The ribs were an attempt to increase the amount of heating surface. I'd say latter part of the 19th century.

I'm sure you looked and didn't see any name on them............

They're beautiful.........I wonder how well they function? I could see having to vent those very slowly.

How on earth does that second one work with no top crosspiece? You'd need a vent on every column; that single vent would only allow the air to leave the last column and leave the rest of it air bound.

Keep me mind for any unique old radiators that you remove or come across.

I kinda thought that there must be either a continous tube that runs up and back down in each of those towers until it gets to the vent or that each tower has a partition/passage way in it that is open on the top so air can run back down to the base and then over to the vent???

It doesn't need one. This is a steam system. The steam rises to the top of each tube and displaces the air downward, and this keeps going until it gets to the vent.

If you have a copy of Dan's book "E.D.R.", you'll find the charts in there.

Very cool. Found some old Reeds today in an abandoned 3rd floor of a bank where the boiler had been decommissioned.

Those are much newer. Weil-McLain made them in the 1950s or so- either the Raydiant or the Solray model.
