There is inconsistent heat throughout the house. Its winter now so its really cold. Should I get a new thermostat or boiler? Boiler Model 17 AGA input 175000 BTU 140000 serial 4G31

    Im no sizing expert, but...
How large is your home, sq ftg
Do you think your insulation is good, fair or poor,
How cold does it get where you live,
What equipment is heating each room, do you have a size of these convectors, radiators, baseboard?

Getting out the cannon to kill a mesquito might not be a cost effective resort. Have you considered hiring a heating contractor to check out your system, and see if just some simple repairs will get it running like a swiss clock? Maybe some tunning and balance will make that ol system sing. Could save some serious $$$!

Inconsistent heat in the house isn't caused by either a thermostat problem or a boiler problem -- so changing either of those isn't going to help. What it is caused by is imbalance between the radiation or what have you in the various spaces and the heat loss of those spaces -- or by problems getting heat to some of the radiation.
