One pipe steam system adding cast iron base

I understand I need to pipe it like a two pipe system. One supply and then a return connected to a wet return.

Two questions:

1. Do I need a steam trap?

2. I assume I need an air vent?

No steam trap needed, yes you need an air vent. You can also pipe the second pipe down a minimum of 5' then back up into the main, if you dont have a wet return. This creates a water seal and you won't get hammer.

At the end of the original run right after the main vent the main the pipe run drops vertical about 5 feet then returns back to the boiler.

I am going to cut a tee in on that vertical drop about 3 feet below the main and have the bullnose pick up my radiator about 15 feet away.

Does this sound like an acceptable plan?

In that case, Where it is attached to that vertical drop, it has to be below the waterline.

    Ok. Thanks

    Last question:

Do I bring my supply in the top tapping on the rad or the bottom tapping opposite the return?

Supply in the top, return out the opposite bottom end of the cast iron base,
