What kind of filter for 140 deg hot water?

The dip tube in my indirect WH eroded to the point that when I tried to pull it out the flange came off and the rest dropped into the tank. Seems now I need a filter between the tank and tempering valve to keep the little plastic particles of it from clogging every aerator, showerhead and valve in my system.

Saw this, is it a good choice? Any reason to spend more for stainless instead of plastic? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OQFFPH8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=AXIP0A1I8BZRS

    A strainer will work better

Scale prevention media should be installed on the cold line feeding the indirect. Does your water need sediment filtration?

Trying to keep the particles in the tank from getting into the DHW piping?

That 5 micron filter may be a bit tight, maybe just a bronze or stainless Y strainer with a # 40 or 60 mesh.

OK, wasn't familiar with the product, but looks interesting. You flush the screen by opening the wye port? I worry that such a small strainer will require cleaning more frequently than something bigger. Saw reference to something called a "basket strainer" but most hits are about sink baskets not inline products.

Can't I get a cartridge for that filter I linked that is just a screen? Or is there a similar product with just a screen? I seem to recall my dad's well had a screen filter. It looks like these 20 micron sediment filters would fit, would they be better? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0117UPALA/ref=s9_hps_bw_g79_i1
