Another leak!

It feels like every part of this fitting is leaking. Any feedback on my plan of attack would be greatly appreciated

1. Turn down/off heat and allow the system to cool down.
2. Loosen the large nut and use a wire brush to clean around and on the threads.
3. Apply Teflon tape and some pipe dope.
4. Re tighten.

Should I consider graphite packing gasket?

    Are you sure that is a spud the valve nut is connected to? If it is just a close nipple, it will never seal to the valve.

    That's leaking from the spud nut. Jiggle the convector a bit as you carefully tighten the spud nut so that the spud seats well. Don't overtighten the spud nut.

    I want to make sure the Spud but is the largest one there right?

    The spud should be brass and should be the section of pipe the large valve union nut is screwed onto.

    Cut the old valve out and refit from valve to the rad. Do not intermix valve assemblies…Replace it as a 3 piece set valve, nut and spud……its approx a 30 min job….

    Sometimes it is good to crank the heat up for a while and than get a few more turns out of the union nut while it is hot. Otherwise as previously suggested, replace the radiator valve and spud. Best of luck!
