LWCO distance of separation should not be a problem. What maybe happening is a spike in pressure from a faulty pressuretrol/pigtail could be pushing enough water out into the returns, causing a temporary low water condition. alternatively, the probe [or the water] may need cleaning.
Install a low pressure gauge, on the same [newly cleaned] pigtail with them, keeping the useless 0-30 psi gauge, and verify your pressure.--NBC0 -
Is this a new boiler? It could also need a good skimming if it's newer or has recently had work done. This can also cause the surging. I agree with NBC sounds like a surging problem not a LWCO problem.0
