summer/winter hookup & oil furnace running when no water is being used

Hi, we have a summer/winter hookup for our 1920 foursquare (oil furnace . . . old cast iron radiators, etc.) I understand the basics of the system, but one thing puzzles me. In the summer (now) when NO HOT WATER is being called for anywhere in the house (washer/dishwasher/showers/sinks not being used), the furnace occasionally kicks in. Is this supposed to happen? I hate to burn oil without a need for it.

    A picture..

A picture would help. It sounds like you have an indirect coil and your boiler is designed to be always hot.

    Need more info

Even if nothing is being used, the coil or tank may have lost enough temperature to make the aquastat call in the boiler...

Is this an internal tankless or an indirect... Model and age, or like Zmann said a pic would be great..
