Loud Smith gas boiler with Powerflame burner

Last year I had a Smith 28A-10 gas boiler installed with a PowerFlame burner.  The noise this creates is similar to a jet engine.

It is extremely bothersome to residents in the 5 story building.  I was told to try installing a silencing plenum in the duct breech.  I am concerned about having this done, as it is costly.  I also don't know who could do this type of work in my area.  Any ideas on other sound reducing methods??

    noisy burner

I have never known Power Flame burners to be that noisy but a cast iron boiler should absorb most of the noise.  It is possible the burner needs better adjusting.  See if the people that service it have any combustion readings that you can give us.

    REsponse to my initial posting

The burner has been down fired from 2.4 M to 1.6 m BTU's.  I will have to get the combustion readings from my vendor.

I am located in Jersey City, NJ

    A pro

We install many 28A series. You need a pro who can properly adjust the burner and vent baffle at the boiler.

    Burner

Sounds a lot like too much combustion air.

I service JC if you'd like our assistance
