Honeywell Supervent

We are currently using Honeywell's Supervent PVU100 on our boiler installs.  We are happy with the results, however on a recent install we utilized the bottom tap of the supervent directly on top of a vertical riser pipe.  We had a reason to do this for space limitations but could not find data to support this.  Has anyone else done this with satisfactory results?

    You mean the 1/2" exp tank tapping? If so,waste of money. If you need a vertical air separator .http://www.spirotherm.com/datasheets/VJV-1B.pdf

    The Honeywell supervents have a full port tapping on the bottom as well.

    Depends on how it's piped

    If all of the system water is flowing through it, then it should effectively function as an MBR.



    If, however, it's connected to the top of a Tee and the system water is not flowing through it, then it will have about as much effectiveness as an auto air vent but it will not remove micro bubbles or dissolved oxygen.

    Bottom Tap

    The bottom tap on Honeywell Supervents is intended for the connection of the expansion tank.  The wire mesh (for the layman) inside the supervent is for collision and adhesion of the air bubbles in the system.  If the supervent doesn't see the flow then the mesh can't do it's job.
