steam heat professionals north of Boston?

Options
Hi Everyone,

I have been in the process of renovating a house I bought several years ago.  It has the original Pierce Coal fired steam boiler that was converted for oil use way long ago.  The house is heated by one pipe steam that flows toTrane floor Convector units.

For the time I have been in the house, the boiler has run flawlessly; I can say the same for the system as a whole--no banging etc, spitting, etc.

Either this year or the next, I plan to replace the unit with a more efficient steam boiler that runs on natural gas to maybe take advantage of some of the rebates out there.

I'm looking for any professionals that are willing to come out, take a look, listen to my concerns and provide a detailed quote on the scope of work that would include assurances on adherence to manufacturer's near boiler piping requirements and a guarantee of the system functioning as it should.  I hope I am not expecting too much.  After reading Dan's books and lurking on this board for a few years, I'm taking his advice and being up front with my expectations.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

    Boston Steam Pros

Try the "Find a Contractor" section at the top of this page. Scroll down to the "States" section as the zip code section isn't reliable. While you maybe out side their normal service area, most steam pros will travel a bit for an installation so that should expand your choices.

    boiler replacement and system evaluation

    Hi Charlie,

I'm looking to replace an old steam boiler and upgrade to a high efficiency gas fired unit.  The information at the top of the thread should give you a rough idea of what I am looking for.  I'd be happy to give you a call and provide additional information.  Just let me know what times are okay to call and if the contact number listed on heatinghelp is the one I should use.

    Thanks,
