I have a customer with a 5 section smith/mills 20. oil fired. he wants to go natural gas. I went thru the house and measured all radiators and by using the info on this site, came up with a total of 648.86 sq.ft. of radiation. Its a big old 3 story house. What does this convert to in btus?

I'm not a pro but,
648.86 * 240 = 155726 BTUs.
Take that and add a 1.33 pickup factor and your at 207116 BTUs. Use the DOE heating capacity rating on the boiler for this. This would put you in the market for someting like a Burnham IN8.
This will not be enough if the piping is oversized or uninsulated.Single pipe quasi-vapor system. Typical operating pressure 0.14 - 0.43 oz. EcoSteam ES-20 Advanced Control for Residential Steam boilers. Rectorseal Steamaster water treatment0 -
