I have a steamer with two float type LWCOs, and need to add a float type auto fill and meter setup. Can I tee off one of the LWCOs to add this or must it be a LWCO / fill combo unit and just swap out the unit? Customer's maintenance guy left the fill on all night and there was just about 3' of water all the way across a 30x40 boiler room and the 30x30 coal room. What a mess.

the existing lwco should just wire to
your auto feeder. why add a probe LWCO? Just use a VXT120 or VXT24 whether it is oil for or gas.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

Great!
Here is a pic. I would have to raise the left LWCO to the normal water line, and add a solenoid, correct? There is a normally open set of contacts on the left LWCO. I checked when I stopped over there earlier. Did not even think of this. Is there a kit or do I need a solenoid, relay, and water meter? I think the contacts on the LWCO are low voltage. Is this good practice or is a combo unit more appropriate?

Very nice pipework !
Did your company do the install Tim ? We see that LWCO on the left used more with condensate pump / receiver tanks . I think it's really called a pump controller . The contacts are more heavy duty and there's more of 'em . Like Charlie said , grab a VXT auto feeder with the built in digital water meter and wire it right in to those NO contacts .0 -
Thanks!
Yep, that's my pipework. I should post a pic of the before piping. Sheeeeesh.
Is there an online source for that feeder? No one here has it. Brand name so I can look for a western states rep? Thanks for the great idea.Just a guy running some pipes.0 -
