Water hammer issue

I have 2 zone valves on the 1st floor on 1 thermostat. One zone valve for the 2nd floor on its own thermostat. When the 2nd floor thermostat is satisfied there is a bad water hammer. There are 2 Erie zone valves and 1 Caleffi zone valve. The valves are all installed in the correct direction. It was recommened to install a pressure-bypass valve.

the erie zone valve is just like a honeywell you can remove 1 of the springs that shuts valve when unpowered this will normally lessen or stop bang

What spring or springs are you talking about

Checked out the Erie zone valve and can only find 1 big spring. Please let me no which spring you are looking at. Thanks

Erie Z/V's

are no good in my book. They are probably the cause. I have had end switch issues with some. Sounds like the circ is still pushing when the valve is closing or closed.

Sounds like an end switch issue. I have been there with these valves. They are poor knock offs of a Honeywell
