evening guys,



i have an older 1988? HBSmith gas fired furnace, 2 heating zones.  i

have issues with my safety blowing occasionally.  i just changed the

expansion tank and 30# safety valve and old B&G circulating pump

and it just burped again 2 days after the change.  i probably would

have never known except the **** safety never reseated and i now i have

a soggy basement.  any advice on what else could make me overpressure?

i was going to block in the feed regulator and run it as a true closed

loop but am unsure if this is a good idea.  not sure if this helps but

after drainign and filling the system a few times i cannot keep clear

water in the system, always brown.

    You should have posted this on the main wall. You would have gotten a faster response.



    It sounds like you have a bad fill valve which is continuing to feed water into the system. Here's how to check it:



    1. turn the boiler off and let the system cool to ambient temperature.

    2. Close the shut off valve in the fill line.

    3. Drain water from system until pressure drops to 10psi.

    4. Open the shut off valve in the fill line and see if the fill valve stops filling and pressure holds around 12psi. If the pressure continues to rise, the fill valve is bad. Do not fire the boiler during this time. Pressure on a cold system should be 12psi for a 2 story house, 18psi for a 3 story.
