Not to encite any discussion about liability etc, but:
What is the general opinion about the prepackaged flexible appliance gas lines available at big box home stores?
They look kind of junky, but they look so easy.
Judging from the lack of quality of threaded pipe from HD and such, I am hesistant to use more China made stuff.
What is the consensus in the industry of these lines?

I assume you are talking about CSST
If so there are pros and cons concerning the flexible CSST lines. There is a new one out from Gastite which is designed to handle lightning strikes, off hand the name slips my mind.
The advantage if there is any is the speed with which you can install versus cutting and threading black pipe.0
