priming my oil gun

while i was away the last few days, my HW heating caused my oil tank to run dry...i have ordered more oil for tomorrow but I wanted to see if there is anything special that i have to consider when priming the gun. is there a best-practice procedure for getting the gun primed? I have 2-pipe oil setup with an inground tank. right now the primary controller is blinking green light near the red switch. I have a Beckett SR gun.

Prime

If you are sure you ran out of oil, it will prime itself with one or two resets.

thanks TB .. yep the stick measures 1.75" .. i'd call that run out.

If it does not start

you will need to do a manual bleed of the burner. do you have the installation manual still?

If resetting the burner does not work try following the instructions on this link -

You may also have to clean and replace the oil line filters at the tank and the oil pump. Make sure you have something to catch the oil so you don't end up with oil all over the place.

thanks for everyone's comments .. i hit the burner button 1x and then a 2nd time and everything has been good since.

my goal is to replace the boiler and burner by sept so I will have the fire fine tuned and adjusted at that time on the new system.
