Burham ES2 - Anyone had experience with this boiler?

I am replacing an OLD oil fired hot water boiler in one of my rental properties with a gas fired. In researching various manufactures offerings, I have come to the idea that the Burnham ES2 might be a good fit for my application. Being that it is for a rental property, simplicity, durability and reliability are all important attributes. I like the idea of cast iron vs aluminum or stainless.  I dont want to be bothered with PH levels, etc. The need to instal a flue liner with this boiler is not a big deal to me being that the house is only one story. I would also like to instal the ODR option to give my tennants some extra fuel savings. This system is single zone series loop. Is this boiler really the mid ground between no nonsense and high efficiency that it presents itself to be?

    with other control features make it a good choice if you are simply looking for a non condensing concept.

    Burnham ES2

    It is not that I am totally against the concept of a condensing boiler.  I will probably put one in my own house when the time comes.  It is more that I am looking for the most BULLET PROOF boiler with the best efficiency for this particular application.  I have had a draft inducer unit fail at another property, and replacing it was not cheap.

    The Burnham Revolution concerns me in that I swear I remember reading comments from others that it does not handle ODR well (or not at all).  I figure ODR on the 85 %ES2 will actually yield an overall fuel savings better than an 88% Revolution without ODR.

    What caused me to post my question is the lack dialog on the Wall concerning the ES2.  It made me wonder if people are just not installing them for some reason unknown to me. Burnham seems to think this unit is the greatest thing.

    It is probably because

    the ES2 is fairly new on the market. Keep in mind it does have electronic controls that are expensive to replace. The ES2 is the closest step toward higher efficiency without getting into the condensing concept. Time will tell if it is all it is made out to be. I have attended training session with Burnham at my training center and I was impressed with the direction Burnham is going with the ES2.



    Burnham is in the process of bringing out some new and interesting products.
