What is the control calling from the indirect?

I had a strange...

occurance happen today...I have had a working heat job installed for two months(zone 1 and 2) uses HW zv and a taco zvc 403. I go to hook up the indirect today and when I hook up the t-stat the 3a fuse blows... disconnect 4 wires and only the t-stat hooked up amber ligt glows..no problem...can a bad Zv cause an overload? After talking w/a tech @ taco he said the board was bad...changed it out...same thing. I have checked al the wiring and have no shorts...any thoughts. ty, kpc

not use a SR-501 and a separate 40VA transformer? I use this with a L6006 on the indirect for priority

The water heater

is a Super stor contender. It has a bi-metal surface aquastat.If I jump out tt at the zone control there is no problem...I have a Honeywell zone valve controlling flow to the indirect.kpc

wire

I had a bad batch of 18/3 once that drove me nuts. I had intermittant shorts. Ohm out the wires and look for shorts in the thermostat wiring.

Worth a shot anyway
