Which main vent?

have a female 1/2" thread inside the base of the vent which is threaded 3/4" on the outside. For some reason, Gorton never included this feature on the #2.

The critical part is how much air the vent will handle. The #2 will move about 3 times more air than the #1.

A single Gorton #2 should vent your main properly.

Which main vent?

I have a one main steam 55 feet 2 in pipe system with 2 Gorton #1 main vents.The last two risers on the main arn't heating fast enough and do whistle air. Do I need 2 # 2's and why would the # 2's which are smaller 1/2 do a better job then the bigger 3/4 # 1's

Will one # 2 be enough? I already have the fitting currently holding 2 # 1's and that hasn't been enough.Why not just put 2 # 2's in the place of the 2 # 1's already there? I would love to save the money of buying just one valve but I'm getting tired of playing around.I want it to work now whatever that may cost

Pat, I had two No. 1's on each of my mains. I left one No. 1 and put a No. 2 in place of the other. Works great. Kept the old ones for spares. You should have plenty of venting with the added No. 2 on each main.

Is it possible to overvent?

Is there any disadvantage to having too much venting?
