HVACTV people have asked me to
do another series on their last Tuesday night of the month show.
What would you like to see?
I have already done:
Thermocouples
Electric Ignition Systems
Carbon Monoxide
What other gas related subjects would you be interested in?0 -
Hi YA Tim
How about gas valves ?

Go Tim!
I second the motion for gas valves! A second idea would be pressure regulators (springs, adjustments, etc.)0 -
Hi Timmie...hows about..........................................
Rehabbing sooted up gas boilers and when its time to replace. I do a lot of these and there always comes the moment when you know its not going to be cost-effective. Mad Dog

review of test units
with diffrent manufacturers of test units who has the best head to head in analizers? I would be intrested in the cost comparison also.
where will my money be best spent on new technology units?
Thanks Terry0 -
Dave Stroman
I did a complete series on Combustion Testing and it is archived on HVACTV.com under the Best of Tim McElwain.
Maybe at some time Ric can get some folks from Bacharach and Testo along with Jim Davis for a session.0 -

Terry,
It would probably be a good idea to have Testo present and then Bacharach and comparison can be made after hearing from both companies.
I am not sure who to contact from TSI but they should also have something to say.
I am not really qualified to discuss the pros and cons of testers. I use both Testo and Bacharach and find that the differences off set one another.0 -
ideas
Well Tim, I think a review of gas pressure testing would be worthwhile, I'm seeing alot of problems with instantaneous water heaters and a review of how and where to put the gauges would help. What's expected from the utility or propane supplier and where to check that. Then what pressure drop is designed ( from the pipe size) and how to check at the appliance. If 2# nat gas and maxitrol regulators were included that would be a pretty full session. I don't know if you did the range of HW smart valve applications and tests but that's certainly a useful topic. Have fun with this!0 -
Thanks for the
input I will see what I can do.0 -
Honeywell Smart Gas Valves..

Venting
I don't think enough can be said to explain gas venting.

SmartValve presentation
It will probably end up being four (4) seperate sessions.
The first will be SmartValve Operation
2. Generation I and II Troubleshooting
3. SmartValve on a FWA System with a Electronic Fan Timer
4. SmartValve on a FHW system with a Control Center
Look forward to seeing everyone there.0
