    Reverse Chiller

    In an earlier thread there was some discussion about a reverse chiller system from York I think. I was wondering if this RC is really an air to water heat pump? If it is, is it a split system with an indoor and outdoor unit. I am really interested in discussing this topic.

    It is an air to water system. We have had good success with them.

    The new units are not split, they are packaged units. I think the draw is to hydronic guys who don't have the ability to weigh in a charge or braze.

    There are still a few split units left however but the inventory is getting limited. I am crossing my fingers that they still have a 5 ton left.

    RC questions

    Hi Josh,

    At what outdoor ambient are these machines working to?

    Are these York units modified by aqua products?

    Do you require a buffer tank for small radiant load calls?

    Their literature says down to 17 Degrees.

    Actually the units were being made long before York had anything to do with them. York bought Aquaproducts last year.

    Yes, a buffer tank is needed. We have been doing about 25 gallons per ton with good success. If you have micro-loads you may want to do more.

    I'm getting em from a couple of different sources. They don't have to be York distributors.
