Simple qustion guys , set back t-stat on one pipe steam syatem. yes or no,and if so how far would you set it back. thanks

    i'll answer with a question for you..

    how fast does your house recover from a setback..if you recover quickly then by all means do so..some houses are slow to reheat up tho..on those we say no..set as far back as you want, and the boiler doesn't ''behave badly'' when coming out of the setback..if it starts to short cycle on off on off then thats not good.. to much.

    just for reference

    a fairly big, old house (not so much insulation); 3.25 gph oil burner, vapour steam system. Thermostat programmed to 58 night, 63 breakfast, 60 day, 68 evening. No real problems (well... a little vapourstat action coming up from 60 to 68, but not that much)
