5psi to get Mercury Switch to Trip

Boiler was not responding to thermostat and I had to crank the pressure up to 5psi to get the mercury switch on the pressuretroll tilted back enough for it to trip and the boiler to come on. The pressuretroll and pigtail hasn't moved since it was working right with about 1.5psi differential. The pressuretroll is very old though.

Any ideas on what steps I should take to troubleshoot?

    clog

    The pigtail its mounted to is clogged.

    When everythings back together make sure the pressuretrol is LEVEL.

    Cleaning out the pigtail did it

    just curious.

    When your pressuretrol is working can you actually see the switch (mercury) move?
    I have stared at ours as intently as i've stared at anything in my life and it does not move a millimeter.
