is the space below the fins to allow the cooler air to pass up througb the elements and out the top. Carpet jammed under baseboard really upsets this convective heat movment.

Chairs and couches close to bb will not hurt the output IF the cool air can be pulled under the furniture. Dust ruffle or anything the limits the air flow will limit the output.

    The farther

    The better. Iwas always told by "old timers" that the frontal distance s/b equivalent to the vertical height as a minimum. JMO
