Twas my day of Birth last week

So I bought myself some Cd's. I picked up Four Way Street by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

I had forgotten how great the acoustic sets are. Triad, The Lee Shore and Chicago ! SO much better to listen too than this yelling stuff out there now. Ya I know, I'm and old man.

It just seems like thier was talent then. My guitar teacher says the real talent is not how loud you cam play but how quite you can play.

By the way Carry On, Long Time Gone and Southern Man just Rock.

Ahh the signs of age ... fondness for rememberance.

Thanks for the CSNY recommendation - I've been meaning to get some on CD. Which album has "Cowgirl in the Sand" - or is that just Neil Young?
If you like acoustic mixed with electric - revisit Hot Tuna. Better yet, go to their shows - they still tour and crank!

guarenteed to bring you right down. It's called "Don't Let it Bring You Down." It sort of starts out slow, and then fizzles out all together." One of my favorite song introductions by Neil Young. The Southern Man Jam is rock at it's finest. "Ohio" still gets me choked up. The picture of the Kent State girl kneeling next to the shot student pleading for help while blood runs down the sidewalk, is burned on my memory, and that song brings it to my eyes every time. There is a Live show both SAT & Sun. with all of them, at the site of the original Woodstock festival,in Bethel N.Y. I just wish I had'nt already made plans, for the weekend.:(

Who forgot the 8-tracks?

I still have a bunch of them...now, if I can find a factory 8-track player for my '72 Cutlass Ragtop! My wife has 2 old 8-track player/recorder units that work! Rememmber when a track ended in the middle of a song, and it continued on the next track? as far as CSN&Y is concerned, saw them three times in my life, best concert was at Wolf Trap near D.C. some years ago, sans Young. But the last time at the MCI center in D.C. was truly awesome,with Neil belting out Cinnamon Girl!

Several are on my list...

The Last Waltz was amazing; Two For The Road by the Kinks (I was at the portion recorded at Southeastern Mass University), Zappa Live At the Roxy, Live Rust and Rust Never Sleeps by Mr. Young, Live Bullet by Seger, Springsteen "Plugged." Don't get me started...

After an

Elton John concert in the 90's all music has to be played loud for me to hear anything.

Great concert, lousy after-affects. I'd rather have my hearing back to normal rather than the memory.

Funny how these

threads always lead to Zappa. He was originally from Baltimore. I read he won a talent show in high school by taking a bicycle wheel, tuning the spokes and playing a tune on it in the competition. An interesting side note. Lowell George of Little Feat fame once played with the Mothers of Invention. I have a picture of him from the Zappa album, We're only in it for the Money." The story goes that Zappa once saw or heard some of Lowell's songs and fired him from the group telling him he was too good to be playing for someone else. This led to the birth of the group Little Feat. Dixie Chicken and Feet Don't Fail me Now. One of my favorite groups ever. WW

Hey Jeff.

Looks like they are still very busy people. At one time they had the former lead singer from Pure Prarie League sing for them. I don't know if he still is. They played a wine festival around here last Summer. I wasnt able to go but heard they can still boogie. Does anyone remember Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band??? Hit songs were Boogie till you Puke, and Christmas at Kmart. WW

My all time favorite group, lost my cherry listening to Guinevere in my 63 Ford Galaxie while two horses in a field next to the car watched, maybe I should write a song about it.

Tom Paxton...`

A great old folkie. Wrote "I'm Changing My Name To Chrysler" after the government bailed out Iacocca in the late 70's. Arlo Guthrie did it on the "Special Friends" live album with Pete Seger (talk about a great live album!) He also wrote "Wasn't That A Party!" made famous by the Rovers in 81. Why do I know this crap?

And speaking of folkies who rock -- anyone out there into John Prine?

If I had ever been here before

I probably would have stayed where I was. Actually it is pretty cool, except I am still spending too much time for the Energy Source(Too many big jobs to pass up) Nathan is doing a great job on the installs, but sales and design work is time consuming for some of the jobs he will be doing this year. It is fun to be helping the contracors that I am working with delv into the newer systems, radiant, solar. I get to work more on the technical side of things and am learning more detail every day of the design side of things that I would learn for one job, and then forget by the time I needed the information the next time that particular thing came up. So I think It will keep my enthusiasm up for another ten years or so,and then I'm outa hair like a bald guy!!
