    mark about BOC

when did you see them? was it with Rondinelli & Miranda or with the new line up?--new drums and bass?? haven't seen the new line up

Miranda was/is a killer bass player, the last 2 times I saw them was at the Webster in Hartford and at the Milford Oyster Festival, in 30+ years I have never seen a bad BOC show.

I wish they would get the recognition they deserve, and, I wish I was their drummer.

Does anyone remember the Blue Oyster Cult LASER shows????????????????????????????????????????

I remember the laser shows! Palladium in late 70's or early 80's? Thin Lizzy opened. Eric Bloom was shooting lasers out of his finger and blowing things up on the sides of the theatre. Also saw them at Hammerhead.
We are going to the Middletown show on 28th. 5th row cntr.
I'm glad most of my kids like good music. My 17 yr old daughter likes blond pop star music, though....we pray alot for her.

I listen to classic rock only, and I am under 25.

I have seen Lynyard Skynard, The Allman brothers, Judas Priest, Ozzy with Black Label Society and Sabbath, Sammy Hagar, David Bowie, Eric Clapton was great, and to top it off I drank Beers with the Marshall Tucker Band.

My first concert was when I had just turned 21, and it was worth the 8$ a beer.

Todays music is just not up to par.

    cool

I know people who also met Marshall Tucker, they said they were real laid back and cool, .38 Special too, another friend met a couple of people from Little Feat.

When I saw the BOC Laser shows they were at the New Haven Coliseum {RIP} they had mirrored balls at the stage and off the score board, there were beams of light about 3/4" round every 4", and Yeah, Eric had the ring and the gun.

I haven't seen them do the ME262 all guitar finale in a while, that was wicked.

BTW, if you were ever a Blue Oyster Cult fan you must pick up their latest Cd's Heaven Forbid & Curse of the Hidden Mirror, plus the DVD concert filmed at the Navy Pier in Illinois @ 2005 - A Long Days Night is great also in CD

The music scene sucks now because there are a bunch of wankers that own it all including MTV and they look to market to only 13 year olds, radio sucks, which brings me to Depp Purples new cd Rapture Of The Deep
really great and one song called MTV really puts crapo radio in it's place, check it out

    Classic

I have a tough time thinking of those bands as classic rock. When I think classic I think 60's music. Must be getting older.

    yeah I hate labels, plus

I hate when dj's say " those guys are too old" when they themselves are pretty old

It is not how old you are, it is how well you do something and with age and time it should get better

Some of these guys are 55-65 and still rock hard, I'll drink to that, it keeps you young, moving around and doing things

This should be the only guy to stand in the place of Entwistle...anything else fails in my mind.

    Billy Sheehan

MAN you made a jump there!

How do you get from Entwistle to Sheehan?

Billy Sheehan is a master, but I do not see how you connect Sheehan to Entwistle. Two entirely different styles. Entwistle was the best musician in The Who. Daltry's voice had NO equal. Townsend's guitar......uh........sucked. Moon was just the BEST rock star ever!!!

John was content to "hold the fort" so to speak, while Billy S wanted to storm the walls.

    Both great musicians.

    I don't know if I'd say Sucked

Townsend is certainly no Virtuoso. But I enjoy his style. Won't get fooled again is Great Rock and remember he played that great acoustic opening to Tommy.

In my opinion the guy did write some of the greatest rock music. The volume of his work is huge. Quadraphenia alone puts him above 90% of the writers out there.

    wild bill

Bill's tone is very similar to Johns...as is his playing style ...Billy does alot of " solo " type playing ( John did too , just not as up front ) , but when he needs to he can play it straight like no one..BEFORE OR SINCE. The greatest rock bass player should sit in for the greatest rock bass player .

And who better to play " The Real Me " than Sheehan. Enwistle was a "God" to all rock bass players..and the best candidate of living bass players is Billy Sheehan. My next choice would be John Myung from Dream Theater ( I'm not sure there is anything he can't play ). The bright side is that I don't have to stand in line to get tickets - Mike

    Ace of bass...

Entwistle was undoubtedly the best - thus allowing Townsend to exist as the "emphasis", with his style.

As far as living, active bass players - I'll take hall of fame former Jefferson Airplane / current Hot Tuna jaw-dropping Jack Casady!

I agree with whoever named Jack Cassidy as a candidate for best rock bass player.
I jumped out of the main stream years ago with Art Bears, Faust, Henry Cow and all those guys. My most recent artist in heavy rotation, so to speak, would be Gabby Lala and Dorothy Cowfield. So I'm probably not qualified to enter any discussion on the musical merits of Englands balding version of Michal Jackson or anyone else.
