tiger loop

Chris, I stand corrected. A fellow technician has contacted me alerting me to the fact that the new instruction that come with the tiger loop instruct not to use their product on more than one burner.

I do find it interesting that this change was made and I must admit I’m curious as why it matters as long as you don’t exceed the limitation of the tiger loop? I’ll try contact the company next week when I return home.

As I have said before education is endless and that’s what I love so much about this industry. with an open mind we can all continue to learn. What ever information I learn from the company I’ll be sure to share with everyone here.

My motto “The knowledge we share today will make a better industry tomorrow”

    TIGER LOOP

yes tiger loops work great.we run two units off them they are a quick fix but only after for the maim reason for intermittent air lock out . what is the vac with hwh unit running? with boiler running? whit the two units running at the same time? does the line hold a vac ?all ruins will run fine if they are the only unit running but two it the sametime the strounger pumpover a week pump will allways win you said it was i pipe ground thank what changed after all these years why now are you getting air. from the burried tank do you get gravite flow?best running oil through garber filter that loop tee off to units

Yes you can but becareful not to go above the gph.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:Install the TlGERLOOOP in a convenient position adjacent to the oil burner. Remember however that the temperature of the TlGERLOOP must not be allowed to exceed 140 „aF (60 „aC) so don't place it close to. say, an uninsulated furnace, or above the cover for a fire box or flue pipe. Always use oilresistant hoses for Oil pump connections.

ALWAYS FIT THE BYPASS PLUG: We recommend that an oil filter be installed on the feed line from the tank. The dimensions of the feed line depend on the pipe resistance and suction head.

The decisive element for determining pipe resistance is the capacity of the oil burner nozzle and the length of the pipe. Add to this the suction head from the tank to the Oil burner. For example (see diagram)'. in a pipe with a diameter of 1/4' (4.4 mm) length (A) of 49 feet (l5meter) and a nozzle capacity (B) of 2.6 gph (10 l/N), pipe resistance (C) corresponds to a suction head of 6.2 feet (1.9 meter). Add to this the height (D) from the tank to the oil burner, which in this example is 6.5 feet (2 meter). Total suction head (E) is thus 12. 5 feet (3.8 Meter).

The use of large gauge pipe should be avoided where very little flow is expected as so much gas is formed that the siphoning effect is lost in declining parts of the pipe. Consequently in such cases. it's not the height from the oil tank to the oil burner that should be computed as the suction head out neither all the inclining parts of the line (including any suction line in the tank) in cases where the capacity of the nozzle is less than 5.3 gph (20 i/n) in 3/8¡¨(8.4 mm) pipe and always in pipes larger than 3/8¡¨(8.4 mm) (see figure 2). The built-in check valve permits connection of several burners to the same feed line. In that case. when calculating pipe resistance, total oil consumption must be used.

The total suction head must not exceed the suction capacity of the pump.

current information is what we are about,

certain variations in manufacturing cause our perspectives to change. not long ago i was operating under what i thought was accurate information about the boilers manufacturing testing requirements for all boilers manufactured in the united states being at least 4 times the operating pressure of the vessel.

after some reasearch i found while for the most part these requirements like code are generally exceeded some as much as 12.5 times the operating pressure as their standard, the current requirement is only 3.5 times the operating pressure.

    Re:tigerloop

I would like to know why myself. I have dozens of Tigerloops on 2 burners.

The instructions does allow for two tigers on same supply line

I've read in the instructions before that you can have two tiger loops tied into same line but cannot have two units connected to the same tiger loop.

    I was

aware of the change, and I'm sure it's some liability issue. For years, I too have 2 units on one Loop w/ no problem at all. Like to know what really is behind the change.

We have dozens of jobs with 2 oil burners on one Tigerloop . No problems to speak of .

We switched to another brand , one that has 2 blue floats in it , I forget the name . I'm going to read the instructions ( oops ) and see if this brand can be used for 2 burners .
