New boiler water level

Sounds fine to me. Of course it would depend on the size and tightness of the system and the amount of time the boiler was operating. Even with all new steam vents the loss you describe would sound about right.

Now that you have a new boiler it would be a good time to go through the system, replace the ancient steam vents and make sure the mains are all properly vented.

Of course you plumber did all that already, right?

I just had a WM Steam Boiler installed. I leave the glass tube filled half way. In one week it lost about 1/4 inch on tube. Does that sound normal?

my cousin is a plumber, he installed it. He checked my mains, Gortons. they were good. He told me to replace all the air vents on the rads which i did myself, not a problem.

Since steam is an open system I expect some small amount of water loss, through vents, valves, LWCO blowdowns, etc.
