Are you checking the power and the neutral(white) wire. or are you using a
meter or a wiggy or a quick test?
Did you press the reset?

good luck

    Burner doesn't run! Help!

I have a lovely boiler (as some of you may recall). It's been off all summer. It's getting cold.

Problem: I turn the thermostat up, the burner doesn't even try to start. I'm a pretty good steam guy, for a building super, but wiring? uh...

What I've checked: I have power to the burner controls. I have water. I have oil. I have power to the thermostat transformer. When a thermostat is calling for heat, I have a bit more than 24v at the thermostat terminals on the control box. When I check continuity between the thermostat terminals on the control box, I get no continuity.

What might be wrong? What else might I check?

    Help!

    Thanks, guys!

See where you're losing your power.... break out the multi meter and check for power through your lwco, pressuretrol, ect.

Thank you, and how to feel like an idiot!

the multimeter did it -- led me to a second LWCO (belt, braces, and supsenders?) which was a manual reset -- which had tripped when I'd flushed the sediment out.

    Uh... duh...

    All is well!

    Jamie....

Don't feel like a idiot!!! Use this as a learning tool, always start at the sorce and work your way thru it. i DON'T CARE how long someone has been doing this great trade we ALL miss something from time to time. the trick is not to ASSUME anything always think what can it be? keep up the good work....David
