Let me tell you
about a non-pipe related job on my building.
We needed another exit from the basement and decided to put a sunroom on the side of the building for the spiral stairs. Went to Acadia Sunrooms in Ellsworth since that was their specialty. After the first winter, it started to come apart and it leaked everywhere. They spent 2 years and many attempts to fix it, including taking down one whole wall and rebuilding it.
We ended up tearing down the whole structure and my carpenter built a new one according to his standards. Kissed 10 grand away because the sunroom company was clearly incapable of doing the job and had no assets to attach.
Choose your company carefully and if they do not provide references of previous jobs, run.
If I decide to redo my Baltimore building, the contractor must be on the Wall in Find a Professional.0 -

Thank you Scott I'm just hopeful that it inspires folks to try something different.

Sharon...not a bad price for the work involved. Don't listen to some of the others on this thread who complain how hard it is...if they don't like the work, no one is forcing them to take it.They can become cpa's or other jobs that they seem not to respect....on the other hand, have considerable respect for those who do like the work, but need to be paid in a professional way just as you are in your chosen profession. I've pulled several boilers from pits myself, and it is hard work....involving a torch(which takes skill), and some lifting(usually not too bad if the torch mechanis does his work correctly).0 -

Answer to question
AThank you all again for your insight into this matter. I chose our General Contractor not on price but on reference. We did not choose the subcontractors, or have any input into the decions. We were told we would have radiant floors and zoned air conditioning. A budget price was given for that work to us by the GC and we pay our invoices monthly. Unless we question the invoices we do not see specifics. BTW: the front of the roof has been replaced (this after it was already finished once) I'm no longer concerned with the charge from the HVAC sub! We are supposed to be in the house but the end of August (or before the school year starts) and we were just informed that the tile we picked out is not available for another three months. I am too far in to get another GC I think, but I surely will NOT recommend them to anyone!--Sharon0
