Multi-zone primary-secondary help...

I am building a multiple zone manifold (injection) and I have chosen to drop from the the bottom of the main and thermal trap up ( 12 inches ) with the circuit take-offs. The last job I did with multi-injection we came out of the top of the main and actually had flow through some zones that were not calling ( I did not select the circulators , and yes we had 6 inches center to center on suply / return take-offs. ). Right now the manifold is just copper pipe ( no components installed ).
Will my thermal traps help avoid this unwanted flow possibility ( Dan's book says no , lol..but I ordered it too late )? Should I plan on check valves on both supply and return take-offs ? I just want to use on/off ( not variable )control circulators ( or is this where I'm kidding myself ). All replies appriciated.

There is some science to thermal drops
merely droping the pipe below the P/S connection may not cut it. Ask me how I know.
An astute hydronic contractor wiz in upstate NY was able to shine the light for me. Thanks Harvey.
