Duct work code question

Mechanical Code. This will list the standards, as references, that apply. Duct construction and materials of construction are most frequently found in "SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible". UL 181-96, with addenda up to and including 1998, is a testing standard to which materials are certified, not a great deal of useful info there unless you plan on opening a test lab. Insulation and sealing requirements are typically found in something similar to the International Energy Conservation Code. Most of these Codes are based on standards produced by organizations such as ARI, SMACNA, ASHAE, ARE, UL, ASTM and ASME, amongst others.
