    You would think we would be above it all at this stage of the game. Wherer do you think Adolf Hitler got the money to build his war machine? From US, British, French and other European individuals and companies. Cost is the reason Union Carbide set up shop in Bhophal, India, to avoid higher labor costs as well as the price of running a good safe and enviromentally sound plant. Higher prices is the price we should be willing to pay to ensure our own jobs and well being. Unfortunately, Americans no longer know the difference between price and value. That is one thing we probably can all agree on- the US has become a third world nation as far as our buying and selling habits are concerned. In the meantime China is getting stronger and the US is getting weaker and I shudder to think of where is will lead us.

    Free enterprise

    The enterprise is not free. The Overseas Private Investment Corporation is a US quasi-governmental agency that guarantees the US taxpayer will make up any and all losses incurred if the persons or entities should go broke. They can't go wrong investing in China or any other area of the world. Wouldn't we all like to have a deal like that?!

    I agree, but it's hardly "sticking our nose in" to not artificially block chinese imports.

    sticking our nose in would be throwing up trade barriers because they aren't the same as we are, yet.
