Broken Boiler Forces Apartment Residents Out

POSTED: 10:48 am EST December 10, 2004
UPDATED: 11:50 am EST December 10, 2004

The management of a Lancaster apartment building said it hopes to have the heat back on by Monday.

Century-21 Property Management said a boiler is being replaced at the Highland Crossing apartments on East Lemon Street.

Residents of the 34 units had been without heat since last week.

Some of the residents have found temporary shelter at the Ramada Inn in downtown Lancaster.

The apartment management had suggested the tenants keep warm by turning on their ovens and keeping the oven door open.

City officials said that would be a fire hazard.

Gotta love that apartment management. I wonder if the ovens are gas or electric?
