    Thats a good one

I remember the days when there were still alot of R-12 vehicles on the road. Remember the self conversion R-134 kits for 34.00. PEP BOYS had them on the shelf. But when you went up to the counter and asked how much to have "them" do the conversion on your vehicle it was 600 bucks. So much for the DIY kits.

    Malpractice

Malpractice insurance alone is a killer anymore. Depending on your specialty.Plastic surgery ohhh bad bend over. But family practice you could be neck and neck. Tooling up a doctors office is not a cheap ticket. To much liability priced into the equipment same as saftey equipment for the trades. Liability another can of worms brother.

Do you think WalMart is the only retailer to sell products from third world countries??? Target, Kmart, ALL of them have imports.
Walmart supports many jobs...not just at the store level, but all over the U.S.
What about NCR? An American company who has American workers. Every WalMart in this country has cash registers from NCR. Keeps the people at NCR working. That includes assembly, tech support and repair.
Everyone picks on Walmart when Kmart and Target do the same, if not worse than Walmart.

    Everyone sells 3rd world products

Why? Because 99% of Americans don't give a thought to quality, only price and bragging right as to how "cheap" they bought it.

When I look at the products on store shelves these days, it's a wonder we have any manufacturing facilities left here period.

I believe the consumer mantality anymore is ....... Why should I pay double in some cases. When I can buy it cheap throw it away and buy a brand new one again, rather than have the more expensive product for a longer period of time.

I do not believe that to be a good premise but some do. Hell I have crane shower faucets from 1952 that work like the day they were put in, simple and functional. Find a faucet out there today that will work 52 years with minimal maintanance. Sadly the companies see this as a problem. If they make products that last for decades they do not sell as many. There is a point to that, and how it effects jobs and the economy. I mean if everything were made that good, what do you think our state of economics would be?

No, I do not believe anyone sees it that way, it is how this thread was started. But we all can be selective on what is sold on the shelves where ever it is you shop. Also how a particular company treats its employees. That is the parameters of Walmart.

    Choice

At least we have the freedom to choose what and where to buy. In the end, give your customers the best reasons to keep buying from you. Simple thought from a simple mind.

    Wal mart

Unfortunately, when our customers are out of work, they will not be able to afford us. Trickle down economics in reverse. They won't be paid, we won't be paid, our suppliers won" be paid. China has a HUGE industrial system, that we paid for. Where did Hitler getr the money to build his war machine? From public and private U.S., British,French investors looking for a way to make a fortune. The only way we won World War II is that we out produced everyone else. The next big war it will be China calling the shots and because we no longer have an industrial base we will be unable to do anything about it except capitulate. And where did China get all this money to whip us? Why from US!! To all our elected officials who enabled this and fellow citizens who buy foreign instead of American, Thanks Loads!! Oh, by the way Engineers are being out sourced offshore. The brain drain continues. Time will be that a US Engineer won't be able to get arrested much less get a job.

I would'nt buy water at wal-mart,even if it was the only place left to get water! The company I work for recently compleated an instilation of the refrigeration system. As my job is system start up I was involved with the wall-mart people, when they receved the store from the contractor. THEY SUCK it's that simple. Their training from corp HQ (the land that brought you Bill Clinton)is to get the lowest price from the contractor but demand the highest quality. They are not good people to work for.

While Walmart may !@!#@. The lowest bid and highest quality is always an issue, and expected in any construction arena. If a contractor can not give the highest quality with the bid price they submit. Then they should not bid at their set price,if at all. JMHO

    Competition

Competition with an edge. US government tells companies, "open a factory in Africa, get rid of all your American workers and have the US taxpayer finance it all and we guarantee you won't lose money. If you do, the same US taxpayers will reimburse you." What a deal! The US working stiff and Middle Class are endangered species. And you know that when they move the industry to Africa, they will force the US workers to train the scabs that are getting said jobs or no severance. The way out of this is to vote for someone who will fight for US workers, not the do nothing pols we have had for the last 30 years. Hold the elected representatives feet to the fire and demand action.

Its a vicious circle Ken. Lose your largest tax base "middle class workers" to over seas ventures. At our again "middle class" expense. Now the Middle class,Blue collar and White collar job base dwindles down, down as companies Head South,East and West. Following suit the middle class income tax base gets smaller as the job market narrows. So before long the tax dollars will not be there to bail these companies out of their little "win-win" venture as Uncle Sam would put it.Because the money will not be there.
