Don't get me started Scott
I love the scene were he slaps the malingerong soldier: "How dare you! Besmirch the honor of these wounded heros!!! you do not belong in this hall of honor" (to paraphrase). I also love when Don Corleone slaps Johnny Fontaine ( Was based on a real life episode when Frank Sinatra went to a West Coast Godfather to get the role in FROM HERE TO ETERNITY>" ) "ACT LIKE A MAN>>>GET HOLD OF YOURSELF!" Not totally a fairy tale...
Last night, while talking to my mom about baseball, she recalled Dixie Walker of the Brooklyn Dodgers being her favorite player (I guess she "conveniently" disspelled the Jackie Robinson controversy). Anyway, back in the 40's, during a game against the Boston Braves, Bama Rowell hit a monster shot that shattered the Bulova clock over the outfield. The glass fell in a rain all over Dixie, who was in right field. Supposedly, the author of "The Natural" was present for the game - and obviously inspired.0 -

Search out this movie and see it if you are a \"Heating Engineer\"
Terry Gilliam (of Monty Python) made an incredible movie in 1985. This controversal film, "Brazil", was withheld from release in the US for quite some time because the studio would not play it with Gilliam's intended ending.
"Brazil" is a must see for anyone interested in issues such as terrorism and the influence of technology in today's world.
In the film, Robert DeNiro plays Harry Tuttle, a Heating Engineer from Central Services. Two other heating technicians, Bill and Charlie, have a scene with DeNiro where they try to fix a "small problem" in an HVAC system.
Quotes from Harry Tuttle: "I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's trouble, a man alone. Now they got the whole country sectioned off, you can't make a move without a form.....Listen, this old system of yours would be on fire & I couldn't even turn on the kitchen tap without filling out a 27b/6...bloody paperwork."0 -

deNiro as Harry Tuttle in Brazil
If you decide to get this film, look for the "Criterion" edition on DVD.
Words from Gilliam himself, part of an interview for The South Bank Show, filmed 6/29/91:
"Brazil was a film that sat around for some years, I mean like 10 years I'd been sort of thinking about this thing. I mean on a very simple level it's just its just very cathartic for me. It's all about my own frustrations and my seeming inability to achieve what I wanted to achieve and my inability to affect a system that is clearly wrong. The fears of Brazil are not so much that the world is spinning out of control because of the system, because the system is us. What Brazil is really about is that the system isn't great leaders, great machinating people controlling it all. It's each person performing their job as one little cog in this thing and Sam chooses to stay a little cog and ultimately he pays the price for that."
"Now on the other hand I also felt that there's the ideal that if we all do our bit the world will become better. Then there's the pessimistic side that says enough of this 'do our bit, ain't gonna make a blind bit of difference as we're all gunna, lemming like, go over the abyss'. And so then there was 'how do you escape from that world?' and Sam escapes by going insane. I actually started this film with that idea of 'can one make a film where the happy ending is a man going insane?'"
Keep in mind, however, that Gilliam has been quoted as saying "Because I dislike being quoted I lie almost constantly when talking about my work."
