Had a lady call me with a no heat complaint. I too asked her if she had power as we had been experiencing severe weather.

She said that her power was out, but that she had moved the switch on the thermostat to "emergency heat" (heat pump).

After I explained that the heating system still needed electricity to run, her next question was the killer.

"WELL WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF HAVING AN EMERGENCY HEAT SWITCH IF IT DOESN'T WORK IN AN EMERGENCY!?!??!??!"

I coudn't answer her question.

On my first leave to London while in the

USAF, we checked into the hotel and were asked by the simply beautiful desk clerk, 'and what time would you like to be knocked up in the morning'? After the 4 of us got up off the floor, we heard 'damned yanks'! I know what she means being from Boston :-)
