When should either, L or M grade of copper pipe be used??

    well

    type L copper is generally used on domestic water system's and type m on the heat side of thing's..I/E the baseboard piping..The company I work for only use's type L that way no one get's it wrong..;)

    The old code use to be

    in NJ that you had to use L copper for hot and cold water and M was for heat only. Now according to my plumbing buddies that has changed. So I am not much help but great question. Waiting to hear the boys answer.

  • I also heard it

    from a plumber in a supply house . I'm not sure if the code is different from town to town , county , or what level , around here on LI .
