Steam Heat

HI. I have a question about steam heat? I work with families and try to help address their housing needs. I have a family that lives in an old apartment house and the unit uses steam heat. They keep telling me that the heat does not work, and I am wondering why this may be the case? If anyone can share with me how this system works so I can have a better understanding as I am trying to deal with a landlord, and help this family at the same time.
Thank you,
Jamie

Steam heat is wonderful and often amazingly simple to understand and work with. However, you need to have more information to diagnose a problem.
The book which is sold on this site, "Lost Art of Steam Heating", tells it all and is fun to read. If you can't afford it, there are a number of useful tips at:
