I concur.
1984 was the last good album Van Halen recorded. It's too bad egos and drugs got in the way. They could have been great for a long time.

Sammy was ok, Gary Cherone was a real loser
Diamond Dave ruled. The Van Halen Brothers are the ones at fault. D.D. has always been himself - they changed and turned in to real a-holes. Mad Dog

Oh yeah
In the shuffling madness, of the locamotive breath. Runs the alltime loser, headlong to his death. Also Aqualung, eyeing little girls with bad intent. Oh Aqualung. WW

Yeah but
Having a band like the Eagles backing him up on his songs is not too shabby. WW

correct
Cherone didn`t belong there at all.
Luckily I got to see them with Diamond Dave in Hartford on tour for the 1984 album ,what a show,it`s almost as if Dave was born to be on stage.0 -
And they
still do,wish I could`ve seen them on tour with aerosmith.
Oh well0 -
Got to see KISS reunion at The Garden
Was as good as the 70s...lots of cool explosions..."out on the street for a livin''''....." Its Cold GIN time again.." Mad Dog

No that cannot be denied, but..................
like Clapton who's best days were with The Cream and the Domino's, Joe's were with The Gang. The Eagles are truly great, but a little too soft for me - even when Joe was swinging the ax with them. Mad Dog

One of my favorite quotes by David Lee Roth...
"Maybe money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a great big yacht and you can pull right up alongside it."
The guy is a hoot! I just wanna know how he does that high pitched yelp thing with his voice. Doesn't seem humanly possible.0 -
Never heard of Thunderstruck? what album?
I love "walk all over you" with Bon Scott. He was the best. Brian Johnson was a great substitute though - but only that! Mad Dog

Where's the good music?
How about polka!@! Just joking.0 -
Joking????
You haven't enjoyed all music until you crank up Jimmy Stirr or my favorite--Happy Louie and Julia, the first great American Polka band (Apples, peaches, pumkin pie, whose not ready-----). You have to experience Polka Bration down in Conn. some day.
For true rock, how about Fleetwood Mac and especially Stevie Nicks--haunting stuff.
Although not a rocker who wouldn't crank up "I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him-----? If you don't turn up the man in Black, well it's back to music school.0 -
OOOOOH! Just thought.....
....of another one. I bet almost no one has heard of this one, either. If you have, please prove it by providing either the artist's name, album title, or a sample of lyrics -
"Might as well go for a soda"
Starch0 -
headbangers
It looks like Godsmack is going to open for Metallica this spring. I didn't see anyone mention TOOL, my personal favorite.0 -
Days of Vinyl & 8 Tracks
Great stuff!
Those were the days. Man these comments almost made me dig out the 2000 Albums stored under the stairs.
Here are some of my favorite rock tunes:
All Boss, especially "THUNDER ROAD" (Amen Steamhead, hey Steamhead Southside Johnny, Well Done)
Entire AC/DC "Back in Black" Album played loud (ok.....CD)
Yes, Blackfoot, "TRAIN, TRAIN" (Nice Harmonica)
Elvis Costello, "PEACE, LOVE & UNDERSTANDING"
U2, "SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY"
After a few pops, 8-track "MEATLOAF, Bat Out Of Hell" Now that's good sing-a-long stuff .....(I can't taste my beer)
Best Sing-a-long at the Bar, "BOOM BOOM OUT GO THE LIGHTS", Pat Travers
Stones, "GIMME SHELTER"
George Thorogood, "MOVE IT ON OVER"
ZZ TOP, "TUBE SNAKE BOOGIE"
Joe Walsh, "ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY"
BTO, "TAKIN CARE OF BUSINESS" & "YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET"
Steppenwolf, "BORN TO BE WILD"
Has anyone heard of this one?
Michael Stanley Band, "HE CAN'T LOVE YOU" with help from Clarence Clemons
I expect BARBA's collection of favorites to make the Billboard Chart.
HAPPY HOLIDAY,
Jeff "Riles" Riley0 -
Got me thinking
This weekend I cranked up these tunes loud in the car.
"Ohio" by CSNY
" Tin soldiers and Nixons coming .... "
"Who do you love " George Thorogood. Now thats some nice slid guitar work. Loud and Proud.
And one of my All Time favorite to play loud, " Do you know what I mean " Lee Micheals on that huge chruch organ with Frosty on the drum kit. " Been fourteen days ..... "
Merry Christmas Guys
