Dan's book EDR
tells me that American Peerless Column Rads were assembled with threaded nipples.
I've been told that removing threaded nipples from old radiators is essentially an exercise in futility. Considering the effort that has been required to remove tapping plugs, I tend to agree. (I had to drill out the central portion of the plug and then VERY carefully use a Dremel tool to cut just until I reached the high points of the radiator threads in a few places. Hours and hours. Something I don't want to do again.)
You probably can find a spud wrench that will fit the nipples but I daresay that the chances of it working without just destroying the nipple lands is remote.0
